On the Silk Road again

We just left our wonderful hosts and now new friends in Shiraz. Thanks Leila and Hadi, we really had a fantastic time in your company !

In a desert-like atmosphere we arrived in Yazd. Home of Iran’s largest population of Zoroastrians (one of the first monotheist religion, 1000 years older than Christianity), Yazd has been known for its silk long before Marco Polo stopped by. Even though this city is quite isolated by the desert and located southern of the traditional silk route, Yazd has survived for millennia (it is said it is one of the oldest city on earth, like many others…) by its proximity with the commercial route that joined East and West thanks to a little worm, “Bombyx mori” (silk worm).

To be continued…
